I consider when people of place sinking into darkness by making make shameful comments of others by use of religion (religion is to help people not put them in problem) we get sink holes and this is mightiest sign of God revealing truth.
And other reason can be accumulating wealth with luxury life then casual life which is prescribe in Torah,Gospel & Quran.
